Bollywood star Vidyut Jammwal takes Indian martial arts to next level

iGlobal Desk

Bollywood star Vidyut Jammwal, best known for his roles in Bollywood action films like the three-film 'Commando' franchise and 'Junglee', has taken his Indian martial arts expertise to a whole new level as he launched his own YouTube Channel.

Vidyut's training in the ancient Indian martial art form Kalaripayattu has helped him perfect a unique calisthenic technique known as “walking on water”, a video of which marked his debut on the new channel.

His team claims that after inspiring thousands of people through his live sessions on Instagram during the coronavirus lockdown, Vidyut wanted to tap into subjects that are not only related to physical fitness but also explore various other areas such as mental fitness, food and other exciting concepts.

He said: "Having my own YouTube Channel was a goal I had since a very long time and I was waiting for the perfect content to launch it.

“I have been training to walk on water for a while and this seemed like a perfect thing to start my channel with.”

According to people close to the actor, many fans wanted the action star to launch a platform for them to be able to train for similar skills.

“What is better than a YouTube channel, which will be accessible to people across the globe," notes a statement.

Highly-trained Shaolin Monks have been practising the rare feat known as “walking on water” over many years and Vidyut gives credit to the years of Kalaripayattu training for being able to finally master it. In the video, the martial artist can be seen leaping over water in a dramatic setting.

On screen, the actor's next release is scheduled to be 'Khuda Haafiz', shot in Uzbekistan and directed by Faruk Kabir. The film, based on some real-life incidents and also starring Shivaleeka Oberoi, marks Vidyut's first step into Bollywood's romance-action genre.
