Indian actor Vidyut Jammwal is credited with shining a light on the legacy of Kalaripayattu. Known as one of the top martial artistes in the world, the Bollywood action star is seen as having launched a fitness movement of sorts with his YouTube channel. Through his channel, the ‘Khuda Haafiz’ actor performs many never-before-seen stunts which can only be perfected after years of practice.

The video of Jammwal demonstrating some hardcore and dangerous stunts using Urumi, which is considered one of the deadliest weapons in the world, is a rare sight. It is an art difficult to master because it results in injuries unless the practitioner has a high level of skills. The actor also sustained injuries in the course of practising with the weapon.

Jammwal said: "This video is very special to me because I got the opportunity to bring forward Urumi – the Deadliest weapon in the world. I request everyone to avoid trying this at home without proper training.

“The evolution of an individual is a continuous process that needs to honed with focus and regularity. Kalaripayattu says, the eyes are useless when the mind is blind. This act requires an immense amount of concentration and training. I have been training for this for a very long time and it was my dream to be successful in this act.

“I am happy to share this with fitness aspirants and I request them to attempt such feats under the guidance of a master and only upon the completion of requisite training.”

During the lockdown, Jammwal has seen a rise in his fame as one of the most inspiring fitness icons across the country. The insane routines he undertakes are emulated by fitness enthusiasts and he is duly credited for breaking down healthy living as a feasible reality than a fad.

This year the actor is being seen at the top of his game and it has resulted in quite an army of crazy fans. Most recently, a super fan by the name of Krishna Sonkar got himself inked with a portrait tattoo of the actor over his chest. The fan has also picked up the actor's fitness regime in pursuit of a similar super-fit body.

An overwhelmed Jammwal said: "The moment I land in Kolkata, you'll be the first person that I meet Krishna."
