Renowned Indian filmmaker and producer, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is known for his grand storytelling style, his love for creating larger-than-life characters and adding his signature majestic flair to each project he takes on. Bhansali’s films in the last few years have included hugely successful films like ‘Mary Kom’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Padmaavat’. His last venture, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, enjoyed not only widespread critical acclaim but also commercial success after its release in 2022.
Now, the talented and multi-award-winning filmmaker is back with an announcement for his next big release, ‘Love and War’ which is slated to hit the cinemas in Christmas 2025.
The big announcement also revealed that the film will feature an ensemble cast with the likes of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. With this project, Bhansali brings a talented cast that has never been seen together before and promises yet another great film.
Neetu Kapoor, Kapoor’s mother and Bhatt’s mother-in-law, took to her Instagram account to congratulate the actors following the announcement.
“LOVE & WAR! Raha’s parents, you both make me so proud with my all time favourite film maker #SANJAYLEELABHANSALI. Can’t wait to see your magic #VickyKaushal,” wrote the yesteryear star.
Interestingly, Kapoor’s debut film – ‘Saawariya’ – in which he was seen starring opposite Sonam Kapoor, was also directed and produced by Bhansali.

Among his other upcoming projects, Bhansali’s first global drama series ‘Heeramandi’ is also lined up for a Netflix outing with an all-star Bollywood cast of Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Sheikh. The series will explore the cultural reality of Heeramandi, a historic bazaar district of Pakistan, through the stories of courtesans and their patrons set against the tumultuous backdrop of the India’s freedom struggle of the 1940s.
