Indian crime drama ‘Mirzapur’ back for new season with more plot twists

It is one of the popular series out of India, watched by audiences across 200 territories worldwide and setting social media abuzz. Now ‘Mirzapur’ is back this week for its 10-part second season with a power-packed line up from the first series – Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Amit Sial, Anjum Sharma, Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang and Manu Rishi Chadha – along with new actors Vijay Varma, Priyanshu Painyuli and Isha Talwar.

Produced and created by actor-producer Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Media and Entertainment, the Amazon Prime Original Series is described as a hinterland crime drama set in a fictional Mirzapur where power and revenge provide a way to keep order. The new storyline dives deeper into the murky and rustic world of guns, drugs and lawlessness and traverses through myriad layers of vengeance, conspiracies, romance, drama and formidable women power.

The series is created by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh and Mihir Desai.

Ritesh Sadhwani, Producer, Excel Entertainment, said their production offices have been inundated with calls for a follow up to Season 1, which premieres on October 23.

“We are happy to put an end to the wait and present an all new season to them,” he said.
