Dr Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister of the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, led a high-profile delegation to the UK last week to pitch the “heart of incredible India” as an attractive investment destination.

During a packed schedule of investment summit, one-on-one business roundtables and diaspora interactions, the delegation was successful in pulling together the prospect of millions worth of collaborative projects between British companies and businesses and Madhya Pradesh. These are expected to come to further fruition in the lead up to the 'Invest Madhya Pradesh – Global Investors Summit' scheduled in the state capital of Bhopal in February 2025.

Dr Yadav said: “Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a prime investment destination for UK businesses and investors.

“Madhya Pradesh is not just a destination for investment, but a partner in progress, offering limitless opportunities across sectors like agribusiness, renewable energy and logistics.”

During an “Interactive Session on Investment Opportunities in Madhya Pradesh” gathering at Taj Hotel in London, the CM’s team emphasised the state’s leadership in renewable energy, with Asia’s largest solar park, a thriving agricultural sector that has tripled in production over the past decade, a robust industrial infrastructure supported by a massive land bank, among other highlights.

Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami said: “Madhya Pradesh has consistently been among the top five states for ease of doing business. This success is a testament to the complex partnerships and innovative approaches the state has adopted, year after year, to simplify business processes and drive economic growth.”

The three-day UK visit included a visit to India House in London for a commemorative ceremony marking the sombre anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai Terror attacks. Floral tributes at memorials of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B.R. Ambedkar as well as an interaction with students at the University of Warwick were also on the packed agenda.

The MP CM’s Europe tour concluded with a visit of Germany, where Dr Yadav similarly made a pitch for foreign investment across various sectors of focus in the state.
