Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi are all set for the release of 'Selfiee', which hits cinemas worldwide this week.

After a relatively uneventful run of last year's 'Ram Setu', this would be Akshay Kumar's first outing of 2023. ‘Selfiee's’ story revolves around a tussle between superstar actor Vijay, played by Kumar, and a super fan Inspector Om Prakash (Hashmi). Going by the trailer, the plot thickens as the situation gets grimmer, and the fight between the duo takes an ugly turn involving their families.

'Selfiee' is the official Hindi remake of the Malayalam film 'Driving License', which starred Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu in lead roles – played by Kumar and Hashmi in the remake.

Director Raj Mehta said: "I am truly excited to bring this family entertainer with a fresh, unique story to audiences all over the globe.

“Akshay and Emraan have come together for the very first time and I am really looking forward to seeing how the audience reacts to this new pairing!"

The film will also showcase the modern-day version of the 1990s hit song 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari', sung by Udit Narayan and Abhijeet Bhattacharya, recreated for 2023 by Tanishk Bagchi. And, Mrunal Thakur will be seen in a stylish appearance in the film's new song 'Kudiyee Ni Teri Vibe'.

Speaking of the cameo, Thakur said: "I had a blast shooting for the song. Haven't done something like this earlier, and the vibe on the set was super fun and peppy, much like the number itself. Shot for a few days for the song and it was a special experience. I'm excited to see the audience's reaction to the song."

'Selfiee', with Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha in significant roles and Kumar and Hashmi coming together on screen for the first time, is much anticipated ahead of its release on February 24. It is presented by Star Studios in association with Dharma Productions, Prithviraj Productions, Magic Frames and Cape Of Good Films.
