Bedford School has chosen Mohali in northern India as the site for its first state-of-the-art international campus. The brand-new, purpose-built school will be called Bedford School Mohali and is set to open its doors in April 2026, marking a historic milestone as the first British international girls’ school in India and the first British brand in north India.

James Hodgson, Head Master of Bedford School, said: “We are incredibly excited to take the Bedford School ethos and values to Mohali. Bedford School Mohali will be a beacon of excellence, nurturing young women to become leaders and innovators in their communities and beyond.

“Our partnership with Doon International Education Society is a testament to our shared commitment to providing world-class education and nurturing a global community of learners.

“Whilst this marks the culmination of two years of work behind the scenes; it is also simply the start. We see this school as the start of a growing family of schools, each of which will support and enhance one another in a global marketplace. We are fully committed to providing a world-class education here in Bedford – but also an education which equips our boys fully for the world at large. The opportunities such a family opens up are not insignificant and will benefit us all.”

Located on the outskirts of Chandigarh, Bedford School Mohali will provide exceptional education for girls aged 4-18, offering both the national and British curricula. The 14-acre site will feature both day and boarding options, promoting academic excellence, character development, and personal growth in a supportive and dynamic environment.

The rapidly growing demand for high-quality, holistic education in India was an important factor in choosing the location for Bedford School’s first international school, with Mohali standing out as a natural choice because of its rich educational heritage and commitment to learning.
