Amitabh Bachchan's 'Jhund' to hit theatres on March 4

After many delays, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan's upcoming sports film 'Jhund' will now be released on March 4, 2022.

Taking to his Instagram handle on February 2, Big B shared a new poster of the film, along with the release date. In the caption, he wrote, "Iss toli se muqaabla karne ke liye raho taiyaar! Humari team aa rahi hai #Jhund releasing on March 4, 2022, in cinemas near you."

The tweet has caused immense enthusiasm amongst Big B's fans and garnered a lot of love from his family. Amitabh's daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda reacted with an emphatic 'Yesss,' while his granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda commented, 'Woohoo'!

The film was earlier scheduled to release in September 2020 and then was pushed to June 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The biographical sports drama is based on the life of Professor Vijay Barse, who inspired slum kids to form a football team, with Amitabh essaying that role. Apart from him, the film also stars Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru, both of whom featured in director Nagraj's hit Marathi film Sairat.

'Jhund' directed by Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Raaj Hiremath, Savita Raj Hiremath, Nagraj Manjule, Gargee Kulkarni, Sandip Singh and Meenu Aroraa under the banner of T-Series, Tandav Films Entertainment & Aatpat.

Big B, who was last seen in 'Gulabo Sitabo', currently has three films lined up for release, including fantasy-adventure 'Brahmastra', Ajay Devgn's 'Mayday' and thriller 'Chehre'.

The film was originally slated to release in September 2019 and has been postponed several times, since then due to Covid. Reportedly, with the rising threat of Omicron, producers were even contemplating a direct OTT release at one point. However, to the greatest happiness of all Big B's fans, his first theatrical release of the year is now all set for March 4.
