Liverpool's newest concert arena, Tung Auditorium, premiered its first concert of Indian music performed by celebrated British Indian pianist Rekesh Chauhan. The University of Liverpool Lunchtime Concert Series will soon kick off episodically, with a brand-new album each week.
The concert series showcases Chauhan's piano blending beautifully with Indian classical music from inside the Tung auditorium. The theme of ancient India gets translated beautifully through Chauhan's versatile repertoire accompanied by internationally renowned tabla artist, Kousic Sen. The first series album, released on January 24, includes tracks from his debut album, 'Beyond Roots'.
"It was a privilege to open the season at the state-of-the-art Tung auditorium with such brilliant acoustics. I've always loved performing for audiences in Liverpool, and I'm so excited that we get to share this memorable concert with you all," Chauhan said.

Rekesh Chauhan is a multi-award-winning pianist and composer. He has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, and his collaborations range from Nobel Peace Prize performers to Mercury Prize Award winners. An iTunes World Charts Top 3 artist, Chauhan, has been commended by the UK Prime Minister for raising mental health awareness through arts. He is also an Ambassador of Future Talent, a music charity founded by the Duchess of Kent and Nicholas Robinson.
Last year, he performed a spellbinding performance in the 'Live at Symphony Hall' concert in Birmingham. The Sunrise track from his Symphony Hall album also finds a place of honour in Chauhan's latest album.
