Film Review: Sky Force(4 / 5)
Starring: Akshay Kumar, Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur; Directors: Sandeep Kewlani & Abhishek Anil Kapur
One of the most talked-about patriotic dramas of the year so far, ‘Sky Force’ is now streaming on Prime Video. Inspired by real events from the 1965 India-Pakistan war, this Akshay Kumar starrer takes viewers inside one of the Indian Air Force’s most daring missions — the strike on Pakistan’s heavily guarded Sargodha airbase. It’s a story not often told, and one that leaves an impact.
The film introduces us to Wing Commander Om Ahuja, played with quiet strength by Kumar, and young Flying Officer T.K. Vijaya, played by newcomer Pahariya. The dynamic between the seasoned officer and the fresh recruit gives the story both depth and heart. Pahariya, in particular, makes a promising debut with a performance that holds its own alongside Kumar’s.

Though ‘Sky Force’ is packed with fast-paced aerial combat scenes, it never loses sight of the emotional stakes. The CGI and sound design during these sequences are top-notch and lend authenticity to the high-adrenaline moments. At just over two hours, the film moves briskly and keeps audiences engaged throughout.
A standout moment is the use of the iconic song Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon during the film’s climax, which is sure to move the viewers and remind them of the true cost of war. It’s a beautifully done tribute to a real life story that hits all the right notes.
While the film largely focuses on the men in uniform, the female characters played by Khan and Kaur don’t get much screen time or character development. That said, their presence adds emotional support to the lead characters’ journeys.
