PM Modi conferred Kuwait's highest civilian honour during visit

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday was honoured with Kuwait's highest civilian award 'The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer', which is awarded to Heads of State, foreign Sovereigns and members of foreign royal families. The Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, conferred the honour to the PM during his two-day visit to Kuwait.

Visiting Kuwait at the invitation of Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of the State of Kuwait, PM Modi held multiple engagements and discussions to further deepen the India-Kuwait ties

"They emphasised on deepening economic cooperation between the two countries. Prime Minister invited a delegation comprising the Kuwaiti Investment Authority and other stakeholders to visit India to look at new opportunities in the fields of energy, defence, medical devices, pharma, food parks, among others. The leaders also discussed cooperation in traditional medicine and agricultural research. They welcomed the recent signing of the Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC) under which new Joint Working Groups in the areas of trade, investment, education, technology, agriculture, security and culture have been set up in addition to the existing JWGs on Health, Manpower and Hydrocarbons," read a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs.

The leaders witnessed the signing and exchange of bilateral agreements and MoUs after the talks. These included an MoU on Defence Cooperation, a Cultural Exchange Programme, an Executive Program on Cooperation in the Field of Sports and the Framework Agreement on Kuwait joining the International Solar Alliance.

Earlier, PM Modi received a rousing ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour in Kuwait during his state trip to the Gulf country. PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour at the Bayan Palace, Kuwait. The Amir of Kuwait was also present during the ceremony.

The PM also visited the Gulf Spic Labour Camp in Kuwait, where he interacted with Indian workers and highlighted their contribution to the country’s development.

PM Modi spoke about the aspirations of Indian workers, linking them to his vision for a "Viksit Bharat 2047" (Developed India 2047).

“I talk about Viksit Bharat 2047 because the labour brothers of my country who have come so far to work also think about how an international airport can be made in his village. This aspiration

is the strength of my country," said the PM.

Before concluding his visit, the PM on Sunday also met yoga enthusiast Shaikha AJ Al-Sabah in Kuwait and discussed ways to make yoga more popular among the youth.

PM Modi appreciated her passion towards Yoga and fitness, and said that she has established her a popular yoga studio in Kuwait.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, "Met HH Shaikha AJ Al-Sabah in Kuwait. She has distinguished herself for her passion towards Yoga and fitness. She has established her own Yoga and wellness studio, which is quite popular in Kuwait. We talked about ways to make Yoga more popular among the youth."
