Rendezvous with world-renowned Sarod maestros in London

Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash, Indian classical Sarod players and brothers, presented an enthralling evening at Taj 51 Buckingham Gate, Suites and Residences, as part of the hotel's Rendezvous event series.

The exclusive event held at Taj's private members' club, The Chambers, was attended by notable guests within the community and key delegates of the State Bank of India (UK). The audience was treated to a cultural and traditional performance featuring delightful music from the world-renowned Sarod Maestros.

The duo represent the seventh generation of a musical lineage, as sons and disciples of the sarod icon, Amjad Ali Khan. They have performed across the globe, from Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, and Royal Albert Hall, carrying their musical legacy and bridging traditional and contemporary times.

The iconic Sarod Grandmaster and Composer Amjad Ali Khan also stunned the audience by appearing as the Guest of Honour.

The classical stringed-instrument artists have recently been announced as Associate Artists at London's Wigmore Hall ahead of its 120th-anniversary celebrations. They joined fellow new Associate Artists such as Lawrence Power and Gweneth Ann Rand and are committed to a five-year relationship with the Hall, performing at least once every season.

This season, captivating the Wigmore Hall audience by bringing together Indian and Western classical music, BBC Young Musician of the Year, violinist Jennifer Pike collaborated with the Bangash brothers in their compositions, based on Raga Yaman, Raga Behag and Raga Pilu.

In another collaboration, the duo joined in with renowned guitarist Sean Shibe. The featured music was based on various ragas, the late-night Tilak Kamod, Raga Behag, the popular Raga Pilu and seasonal ragas from the 13th and 15th-century repertoires.

On the final day of this season at the Wigmore Hall, a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi was paid in a grand musical concert. The programme opened with the beautiful and romantic Raga Desh. The second half comprised Amjad Ali Khan's Sarod Concerto, containing 12 different ragas, along with the Refugee Orchestra Project, founded by conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya.

Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash will next be seen performing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, on January 26, with violinist Jennifer Pike.
