‘Amaran’, presented by award-winning actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, has become a phenomenon, making waves at the box office weeks after its release.

Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the Tamil movie tells the powerful story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, balancing themes of love, sacrifice, and patriotism. According to the team behind the film, it's the emotional connection and impactful performances that have propelled the film to become one of cinema’s standout successes of the year.

The performances of Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi have been at the heart of ‘Amaran’s success, earning immense praise from all quarters. Sivakrathikeyan brings depth and authenticity to Mukund, a soldier who is a leader on the battlefield along with being a loving son, husband, and father. Critics and audiences have lauded his ability to bring both the lighter and intense aspects of Mukund's character to life and is being considered as one of his career's best performances.

Sai Pallavi, on the other hand, brings an unforgettable presence to the screen as Indhu Rebecca Varghese, Mukund’s wife. Her performance captures the quiet strength of a woman who supports her husband’s duty while enduring her emotional battles. Sai Pallavi’s ability to breathe life into Indhu’s character has been hailed as one of her finest performances.

‘Amaran’, which translates as immortal, involves high-stakes action with deeply emotional storytelling, with director Periasamy seamlessly blending a narrative that feels both intimate and epic. The stunning cinematography by C.H. Sai, paired with G.V. Prakash’s background score adds layers of depth to the story.

“One of the standout reasons to watch ‘Amaran’ is how it sets a benchmark for Army biopics. The film not only portrays the life and sacrifices of a soldier with unflinching honesty but also captures the emotional journey of his family,” the team behind the film said in a statement this week.

“The authenticity of ‘Amaran’ owes much to the team’s decision to shoot in the actual locations of the Rashtriya Rifles in Kashmir. The cast and crew faced extreme weather and challenging terrains to ensure the film’s realism, reflecting the dedication and hard work that went into bringing this story to life,” the statement added.
