The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow has conferred an Honorary Fellowship on Lord Karan Bilimoria at a diploma ceremony.
Lord Bilimoria is the Founding Chairman of the UK India Business Council, a Lieutenant to His Majesty’s Commission of Lieutenancy for the City of London and a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London.
Reflecting on the award, he said: “This is such a special day and occasion to be honoured by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
“It is such an ancient and highly respected institution in the medical world, not just in the UK but globally. I was brought up as a child in India and you would see doctors with the letters FRCS Glasgow after their names, and now here I am at the actual institution and it’s like a dream come true for me.”
As one of the first two visiting entrepreneurs at the University of Cambridge and a founding member of the Prime Minister of India’s Global Advisory Council, Lord Bilimoria also holds the distinction of being the first-ever Zoroastrian Parsi to sit in the House of Lords in 2006.
