To mark the International Day of Yoga this month, a special event was hosted in the House of Commons by Bob Blackman, the MP from Harrow East in London, which also marked the launch of a new medicinal research project.

Blackman, who has been a great champion for India and the values of Vedic sciences, stressed the need for strategies for society to live healthier and longer.

During the occasion, Dr Rajinder Pal Singh’s book ‘Journey Across Boundaries’ was highlighted for a complete section delving into the concept of soul, karma and after life. Dr Singh explained to the audience how the world needs to focus on preventive medicine, of which Yoga and Ayurveda have a promising potential and a definitive edge as was seen in the ancient days when adoption of these techniques reduced the disease burden of the society. A collaborative effort of Eastern and Western school of thought would lead to a vision beyond the DNA and histones.

He said: “I strongly feel that the chromosomal apparatus can be manipulated by the mysterious forces which is a task that will be taken up by me shortly.

“We haven’t gone beyond the DNA. The next move will be an amalgamation of Eastern and Western and go into the mysterious world that lays before the DNA and the histones – and a large part of this is likely to be guided by ancient Vedic sciences.”
