Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Chhaava’, produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films and directed by Laxman Utekar, has garnered worldwide praise with its phenomenal collections at box-offices around the world.
Released across 70+ territories by Yash Raj Films (YRF), the film has reportedly set new benchmarks with its massive impact in international markets. The historical drama, which brings to life the legacy of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has made a mark as one of the most successful Indian films on the global stage. It has become the first film of 2025 to cross the $10 million mark and is poised to make even greater waves as it continues its remarkable box office journey.
Dinesh Vijan said: "The incredible performance of ‘Chhaava’ both domestically and internationally has been nothing short of overwhelming. It’s a testament to the hard work, dedication, and vision of Maddock Films.
“This film is a tribute to our country’s rich heritage, and to see it resonate so powerfully with audiences worldwide is truly a proud moment for all of us."
The movie has proven to be a historic success, not just for the Indian film industry but also for Vicky Kaushal, as it becomes the biggest solo opening film of his career. Since its release on February 14, ‘Chhaava’ has not only achieved stellar box office numbers but also garnered widespread critical acclaim, establishing itself as the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025. Co-starring Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna, ‘Chhaava’ has captivated audiences worldwide.

Nelson D'Souza, Vice President of YRF Distribution, said: "We are thrilled with the phenomenal global reception of ‘Chhaava’ and with the film delivering an outstanding performance in key global markets. The film's remarkable success in over 70 territories underscores the universal appeal of Indian storytelling.
“This is a historic moment for Indian cinema, and we’re proud to be a part of its journey as it continues to break barriers, set new benchmarks and redefine global success."
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among those who took to social media to praise the film’s success, emphasising its importance in showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage and making waves across the nation and beyond.
The film has registered a strong performance in key global markets as of March 31: Middle East $1.5mn, UK and Ireland $1.06mn, North America $5.72mn and Australasia $1.19mn. The filmmakers said that despite fierce competition from major Hollywood blockbusters such as ‘Captain America’ and ‘Bridget Jones’, ‘Chhaava’ managed to hold its ground to maintain strong box office numbers and word-of-mouth praise.
A key driver of its success has been the support from major international exhibitors, who saw the film’s potential and expanded its release into additional cinemas in its second week. This expansion has contributed to the film's growing momentum, which continues to rise as it moves forward.
