This spy movie streaming on Netflix with a female protagonist has many of the ingredients required for an engrossing thriller. So how does it score on the mystery drama scale?

Suhana Bhatia (Kapoor) is an adept Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer who has a proven track record in the field. However, being born to a family of accomplished and patriotic government officials, she also must work harder to overcome allegations of nepotism that are inevitably levelled against her. When she lands a plum posting as India’s Deputy High Commissioner to the UK and sets off for her new base in London, Suhana is understandably determined to prove her detractors wrong.

As the newest arrival, making friends proves tough until a chance encounter with Michelin star chef Nakul (Devaiah) opens the doors to much more than friendship. But a seemingly harmless romantic encounter proves fatal when it emerges that Nakul is not all that he claims to be. Soon, a complex web of deceit begins to unravel as Suhana is blackmailed into betraying her country in favour of its foremost enemy – Pakistan. Will this young diplomat manage to outwit the enemies before too much damage or will her new diplomatic posting prove to be her last?

This thriller started off with great promise, plugged in with all the right elements to build up the suspense and draw audiences in. However, as the script begins to flail soon after the first half, so do the actors who appear to be running helter-skelter in an attempt to keep hold of the narrative. The end result is a mish-mash espionage drama that will stretch the imagination way beyond acceptable realms.

Janhvi Kapoor is fairly convincing in her role as the youngest deputy at the London mission but ultimately is let down as the central character by a lack of solid ideas to set a steady pace for this thriller.
