Don’t miss these early symptoms of type 2 diabetes!
Published on

It often comes as a shock to hear you've got type 2 diabetes after a routine medical check-up.

Many of the women I work with say things like: “But I thought I was eating healthy…” or “I had no idea anything was wrong.”

That’s because the early signs of diabetes are subtle and often mistaken for menopause symptoms.

Fatigue, weight gain, cravings… sound familiar?

So how do you know if it's just your hormones or something more serious?

7 Common Early Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes:

1. Unexplained Fatigue

Feeling unusually tired even after a full night’s sleep? This could be your body struggling to convert food into energy due to insulin resistance.

2. Increased Thirst & Frequent Urination

Are you constantly thirsty or waking up often at night to go to the loo? That’s your body trying to flush out excess sugar.

3. Unexplained Weight Loss or Weight Gain
Gaining weight around your belly or losing weight without trying could be a sign your body isn’t processing glucose effectively.

4. Blurry Vision
Blood sugar spikes can impact the fluid in your eyes, making your vision feel unclear.

5. Slow Healing & Frequent Infections
If cuts, scratches or UTIs are becoming more frequent or taking longer to heal, high blood sugar could be the reason.

6. Tingling or Numbness in Hands and Feet
A “pins and needles” sensation could be a sign of nerve damage caused by elevated blood sugar over time.

7. Sugar Cravings or Constant Hunger
Frequent cravings especially for carbs or sweets may indicate unstable blood sugar levels.

If you’re experiencing two or more of these symptoms, it’s worth contacting your GP and asking for an HbA1c test, which checks your average blood sugar over the past few months.

Please don’t ignore the early signs. Awareness is the first step toward prevention and healing. They thought they were doing everything right, until the test results told a different story.

But with small, consistent changes to their diet and lifestyle, they were able to:

✔️ Lower their blood sugar
✔️ Reverse their type 2 or pre-diabetes diagnosis
✔️ Lose weight and reduce belly fat
✔️ Feel energised and confident again
