Why a quick BMI check could be life-changing

Why a quick BMI check could be life-changing
Published on

Most people don’t realise that their BMI matters. And for us as South Asians, we have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and raised cholesterol, even at a lower weight compared to other ethnicities.

You could look slim on the outside but still be carrying dangerous levels of body fat inside, the kind that leads to chronic disease. Yet, so many people never check their BMI – or Body Mass Index.

Do you know yours? If not, keep reading because this could be life-changing.
I remember speaking to a woman recently who was shocked when she checked her BMI.

She wasn’t overweight by general standards, but as a South Asian, her BMI was above 23, which meant she was already in the high-risk zone.

“I don’t feel unhealthy… but I’ve been feeling more tired, craving sugar, and my belly fat has increased. I just thought it was normal with age.”

Sound familiar?

The truth is weight gain, hormonal imbalances, and low energy aren’t just a normal part of ageing. They’re warning signs that your body needs support.

And the worst part? Most people ignore it until it’s too late.

The good news? You CAN do something about it NOW, before it turns into a bigger problem.

I have recorded a video explaining:
✅ Why BMI matters MORE for South Asians (even if you think you’re a ‘healthy weight’)
✅ How weight impacts your energy, hormones, and health markers
✅ What you can do NOW to start feeling better without extreme diets or restrictions

So, start by checking your BMI. If it’s above 23, don’t ignore it.

You DON’T have to give up your favourite foods. You DON’T have to live with low energy.

But you DO have to take the first step.

⏳ Your health won’t fix itself. Take action today. Do check your BMI!
