The High Commission of India organised a special community interaction with members of the Indian diaspora at India House in London, shortly after the successful completion of Operation Sindoor, according to an official statement.

The event served as a platform for Indian students and citizens residing in the UK to engage directly with the High Commissioner, Vikram Doraiswami, and senior mission officials. During the session, attendees addressed their questions, express concerns, and shared their experiences, especially in light of recent developments and India’s counter-terrorism Operation Sindoor.

The High Commissioner responded to queries with openness and reassured the community of the Indian government's commitment to the safety, wellbeing, and interests of all Indian nationals living abroad, as per the statement.

A key topic of discussion also included the UK-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA), negotiations for which were concluded last week. The High Commissioner highlighted how this agreement is expected to boost economic ties between the two nations and create new trade, investment, and employment opportunities. He emphasised that the FTA will significantly benefit India by opening up access to the UK market for Indian businesses, enhancing exports, and encouraging innovation and collaboration across sectors.

The event underscored the importance of continued engagement between the Indian government and its global diaspora. It reaffirmed the High Commission's role in strengthening India's international relationships while supporting its citizens abroad.

It came as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a fiery address to Air Force soldiers at Adampur air base in Punjab, where he issued a stark warning to those who threaten India's sovereignty and security.

"The ones who dared to challenge us faced the might of our soldiers. Nine terror hideouts were destroyed. Over 100 terrorists eliminated. Their leaders now understand – raising eyes towards India, only invites ruin," the Indian PM said.

Highlighting India's advanced defence capabilities, he added: "For days, Pakistan will lose sleep thinking about our drones and our missiles."
