The Sampark Bharti Sanatani Professional Conclave recently took place at Hilton, Manchester and saw diaspora from across the UK in attendance as well as special guests from the UK and India. The initial welcome remarks saw pre-recorded messages from Sadhavi Ritambhara, Devendra Fadnavis (Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, India), Dr Pramod Sawant (Chief Minister of Goa, India) and Mr Tathagata Roy (Ex-Governor of Meghalaya, India).
The hosting of the event was carried out diligently by Jay Kumar Acharya, also known by his stage name Jazzy J. The event commenced with the lighting of a diya (lamp) by Colonel Tej Tikoo, Hitesh Shankar, Suresh Ruja, Cllr Vimal Choksy and Cllr Kaushik Chakraborty
Aimed at creating a global network of Indian citizens and Indian diaspora members worldwide, Sampark Bharti – a registered charity – has been working to connect the global Indian diaspora for six years and the UK diaspora for the past two years.
“We want to evolve the concept of participative mechanism using our expertise,” said Col Tikoo, who is also the founding head of the Sampark Bharti initiative, in his opening address.
“Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam [whole world is one family] is not only the slogan of India’s G20 Presidency, but also a motto of our civilisation since centuries,” noted Shankar, editor of ‘Panchajanya’, an Indian weekly magazine.
“We will work together to make things better which will be beneficial to both Bharat and people in the UK,” said Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, who joined live via video conferencing.

Through their growing network of diaspora professionals from diverse backgrounds from over fifty countries, Sampark Bharti hopes to promote engagement, synergy & co-ordination among people with a shared Indian heritage. Their mission’s main goals include:
· To bridge the societal connectivity gap and consolidate the nation building activities by providing a platform for synergy of all already active individuals & organizations.
· To provide a platform for socially conscious youth wanting to contribute to the nation’s inclusive progress and to mentor leadership qualities.
· To enable organisations and individuals to fight all social problems through citizen-level initiatives.
· To act as a bridge between Indian diaspora abroad and Indian residents to address various opportunities & challenges therein.

Working towards the above goals, Sampark Bharti has launched (or has in the pipeline) the following:
· 24/7 Sanatani helpline – among other advice and support, this newly launched helpline also aims to offer guidance and/or help to students and young professionals who have recently arrived in the UK.
· One World media – a monthly e-magazine with the aim of highlighting diaspora contribution and spotlighting the work of temples, community leaders and other members of the community to the wider community.
· Connects UK – a portal which connects all those interested in contributing towards the initiative.
· Sanatani Chamber of Commerce – the organisation aims to establish this in London by November 2023
· India Exhibition Centre – a year-round exhibition centre which will display Indian goods and handicrafts showcasing India’s immensely talented craftsmen and artists.
