King Charles joined in a minute’s silence in memory of the Ahmedabad-London Air India plane crash victims, sporting a black armband to honour the dead across both nations and beyond during his annual Trooping the Colour Birthday Parade over the weekend.
Buckingham Palace said the UK monarch had made the last-minute amendments "as a mark of respect for the lives lost, the families in mourning and all the communities affected by this awful tragedy".
“Following the Air India incident this week, His Majesty has requested that members of the Royal Family in uniform at Trooping the Colour should wear black armbands, as will mounted Officers in the Procession and all liveried Mews staff,” the palace said.
Meanwhile, 1,075 people from across the UK received the customary honours in King Charles III’s Birthday Honours List 2025. They were awarded for their exceptional achievements, with a particular focus on those who have given their time to public service.
Here’s a roll call of some of the Indian-origin professionals, academics, healthcare experts, frontline and community workers named in the 2025 Birthday Honours List…
